The Emperor's Chorypheles

Anthelme Droizorviaud, a young glassworker apprentice, is on his way with his master Barthelemy Ranquelm toward the Abbey of Fontfroide where they have to restore the great rose window of the church, destroyed by an explosion. Along the way, they discover strange metal balls, the “chorypheles.” These apparently innocent objects will soon lead them to an adventure quite different: the one where the Emperor of Austrasia and especially his evil engineer have enacted the laws. So Anthelme and Sir Ranquelm penetrate some of the best kept secrets of this more or less magical science of glassware, all this in the detour of amazing encounters.
